CAT Result 2018: 11 candidates score 100 percentiles

KOLKATA: Results for 2018 were declared by Indian Institute of Management ? Calcutta (IIMC) on Saturday. This year 11 candidates have scored an overall 100 percentiles in CAT 2018. All 11 candidates are male and are from engineering and technology background. From the graduation records, 7 candidates are from different IITs followed by 2 candidates from . From the permanent address provided during application, 7 candidates are from , 2 from , and one each from and Bihar.

21 candidates have scored an overall 99.99 percentiles in CAT 2018. Out of the 21 candidates, 19 candidates from engineering and technology background. ?This clearly indicates that the attempt which was consciously started by the IIMs to break the monopoly of engineering students bagging seats in the premier B-schools of the country to diversify the classroom composition could not yet be achieved,? said a senior IIMC professor.

The total number of female candidates in CAT 2018 was 73326 while number of male candidates were 136075. ?This time we also have 4 transgender candidates,? added a source.

CAT 2018 was conducted in two shifts on November 25 last year. ?A total of 2,09,405 candidates had appeared for the exam, which was conducted in test centres spread across 147 cities. The number of test takers this year was the largest till now,? pointed out the source.

After CAT, various IIMs will release their shortlist for subsequent process considering CAT score and other criteria. More than 100 other non-IIM institutions also use CAT score for admission to their management programmes.

?The two students from Bengal who have secured 100 percentile scores are from Jadavpur University. Despite the student movements and frequent class disruptions the quality of students are still top-notch at the institute. The two students from our university are ? Aniruddha Pal and Rishav Jaiswal,? informed an elated JU official.

Meanwhile, IIM Calcutta said that despite receiving objections, no changes have been made in the answer keys issues by it. “The objections received against questions in CAT 2018 were carefully examined by the expert panels. Those candidates who had raised objections will receive individual responses to their respective objections over their registered email ID.The answer key remains unchanged after careful examination of the various objections that had been received and examined by the expert panels,” said IIM Calcutta in a notice posted on its official website.
