Alwar man beaten by mob arrested for smuggling cows

ALWAR: Sagir Khan (23), who was beaten by a mob on suspicion of cattle smuggling on Sunday, was arrested by on Thursday.

The police have charged Khan for illegally transporting cows. A trial court has sent Khan to judicial custody till January 15.

A case was registered by the police on Sunday against Khan under various sections of the IPC and (Prohibition of Slaughter and Regulation of Temporary Migration or Export) Act, 1995. A case was also filed against unidentified persons for assaulting Khan. So far, five persons have been arrested, of which three have been granted bail. Khan was beaten up a mob following an altercation over overtaking on Sunday morning near under the limits of Kishangarh Bas police station. Six tied up cows were found in his pick-up vehicle.
